Backplates for Myford 7 Lathes

Backplates allow the mounting of collet chucks or alternative lathe chucks.

These backplates are designed to fit Myford 7 series lathes, including Myford Super 7 and ML7 models.

Choice of two different diameters

• 4″ / 100mm (Item No. 9516)

• 5″ / 125mm (Item No. 9517)

 

Backplate fitting

Backplates are supplied machined to fit to the Myford lathe spindle and on other side they are unmachined for maximum flexibility.

• Backplate machining on plain side will be required to suit your particular application (eg chuck). This is a straightforward procedure.

• To ensure absolute accuracy, it is necessary to machine a suitable spigot on the backplate to match the register in the back of the chuck.

• Due to the various chuck PCDs, it is also necessary to drill and possibly tap the backplate to accept whichever chuck is being mounted.

 

Collet chucks

• Back plates are ideal for mounting a collet chuck to a lathe.

• Collet chucks available in ER 25, ER 32 or 5C sizes here.
