Shaker-Style Blanket Chest

The Shakers and other early-American craftsmen built many chests of this general design. The solid-wood panels which were typically used have been replaced with frame and panel assemblies. It’s a simple change that transforms both the look of the chest as well as the way it’s put together. This frame and panel design allows the basic case to be assembled with nothing more than rabbeted and glued corner joints.
